Dior is reissuing its iconic model in tribute to Lady Di.

Twenty-seven years ago “Lady Dior” appeared on the arm of Princess Diana. When visiting Paris, she received this highly symbolic diplomatic gift from France's First Lady, Bernadette Chirac, during the opening of the Cézanne exhibition. Originally nicknamed “Chouchou” and then named after her, it was after being worn by Lady Di, that this signature piece of Dior essence made its way onto the fashion scene. Several decades after its creation, the model remains one of the mythical pieces of Dior and crosses the decades to be reissued by the house in exclusivity.

Dior reissues Lady Diana's “Lady Dior”:

Worn by Diana in 1996 at the prestigious Met Gala, the “Lady Dior" in blue satin is reissued in exclusivity, upgraded with rhinestones. A jewel of craftsmanship, it reflects the know-how of the house and its workshops in every detail, and pays tribute to Lady Diana. For it is another fashion coup that she made during this event. With her divorce just finalized, she once again broke free from royal protocol. After the revenge dress, she marks the spirits by adopting a long slip dress, blue night, decorated with black lace. A daring silhouette designed by John Galliano just appointed to the artistic direction of Dior, which she sublimated with a set of pearl and sapphire jewelry offered by Queen Elizabeth II during her marriage to Prince Charles.

Over the years, “Lady Dior” has been available in a wide range of colors, sizes, and materials, some of which have been adopted by the princess like the black patent leather model. Season after season, it continues to be reinvented by the vision of Maria Grazia Chiuri.
