Alexandra: I try to enjoy everything that comes into my life as much as possible

Starting a career in modeling can be surprising and sometimes unexpected. For many models, the journey begins with a little encouragement from family. In my case, my mother thought modeling would suit me because of my height, even though I initially didn’t believe it. She enrolled me in model school for a while, but I almost gave up before I truly started. Shortly after, Katrin Rannaväli from E.M.A. model agency spotted me at a shopping mall, and within two months, I was already flying to Tokyo. It was a moment that showed how powerful connections with the right model agency can be in shaping a modeling career.

The first time I walked a runway, at the ERKI fashion show, I was terrified. Yet, the moment I stepped onto the stage, the fear transformed into pure joy. That feeling is something many models describe—the thrill of performing and being part of a creative vision. Whether on the runway or in front of the camera, the excitement of modeling keeps me motivated.

Tension and competition are part of the modeling world, but I’ve learned that the key is balance. After long days of castings or photo shoots, I enjoy relaxing with a favorite series or grabbing a meal with friends. Every model has a unique style, and clients seek different looks, so understanding that diversity helps reduce pressure. Working with model agencies and staying professional makes navigating competition easier.

Maintaining beauty and fitness routines is essential for models. My approach is simple: I use face cream morning and evening, indulge in occasional face masks, and keep my body in shape with light home workouts or gym sessions whenever possible. A busy modeling schedule doesn’t allow for strict routines, but consistency matters more than perfection.

Fashion is a huge part of the modeling experience. This spring, my go-to items are Gucci slippers paired with ripped blue jeans. For castings, a classic model outfit works best: black jeans, ankle boots, and a simple black or white blouse. Working with designers like Gucci, Chloe, and Yves Saint Laurent remains a highlight, as each collection allows models to explore creativity in styling and presentation.

Some moments in a modeling career are unforgettable. One of my most memorable photo shoots was with French Vogue, captured by David Bellemere. Experiences like this show how modeling can merge art, fashion, and personal growth. Outside of work, an ideal day for me includes sleeping in, enjoying coffee in the sun, strolling through a neighborhood, visiting a cozy café, and perhaps a little shopping. Even models need moments to recharge.

For those starting in modeling, communication is key. Good relationships with clients, photographers, and agencies open doors in ways that talent alone cannot. Every model’s journey is different, and having guidance from a supportive model agency can make all the difference. My advice to beginner models is to stay engaged, be open, and enjoy the journey—because modeling is as much about growth and experience as it is about fashion.
