How Kim Kardashian managed to go from a chronicle star into a style icon
Kim Kardashian is one of the most popular celebrities in the world. If you open any publication or visit any website, and you will surely find a photo of Kim there. Now she owns cosmetics brand KKW Beauty, perfume brand KKW Fragrance, emoji app Kimoji, mobile game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood as well as corrective underwear brand SKIMS. Kim Kardashian's fortune amounts to more than $350 million. It's hard to believe, but once upon a time the TV celebrity was known for a completely different lifestyle.

Today Kim Kardashian turns 39 years old. The editorial staff of FWD decided to remember Kim Kardashian's journey from an avid fan of clubbing to a successful entrepreneur.

The Kardashian family first became known thanks to Robert Kardashian, the famous lawyer who successfully defended the man accused of murdering his wife and her lover, the famous American football player O.J. Simpson. It was the longest trial in California history, and the defendant faced the death penalty.

Kim herself was originally known in Hollywood circles as a celebrity stylist. Her clients at one time were Lindsay Lohan, Brandi Norwood and others. It was then that she began her friendship with Paris Hilton. Together they partied in Los Angeles clubs and led a rambunctious lifestyle.

In 2006, the birthday girl became mega popular overnight, after the scandalous sex tape with her former lover, R&B singer Ray J, appeared online. On the wave of popularity, Kim's mom Kris Jenner suggested launching a show about the family's life called Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The first episode aired on October 14, 2007. Although the video represents an unpleasant memory for Kim, it still gave a boost to her worldwide popularity.

The family TV show continued for 17 seasons while viewers watched the changes in the lives of the Kardashian family and Kim herself in particular. Every event of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, whether it was a wedding, divorce, family celebration or setback, viewers experienced with the contestants, and with each season the popularity of Kim and her sisters grew. Before the television show launched, Kim, Khloe and Courtney opened their own clothing boutique called DASH. Their first shop was in Calabasas, near Los Angeles, and by 2012 DASH had shops in Miami, New York and Hollywood. In 2016, the sisters closed all of the DASH boutiques and moved on to new projects.

After the release of the sex tape, Kim continued to show the world her naked body, from shoots in Playboy and other glossies to candid photos that the celebrity dedicated to her boyfriends. Speaking of boyfriends, Kim had plenty of them. Just look at her marriage to Chris Humphries, which lasted only 72 days.

On May 24, 2014, Kim married rapper Kanye West, and that's when her transition to the good side began.

The couple has supported each other through tough times, such as Kanye's depression and Kim's 2016 attack in Paris, and are also raising four children: 6-year-old daughter North West, 3-year-old son Saint West, 1-year-old daughter Chicago West and 5-month-old son Psalm West. The couple's last two children were born to a surrogate mother.

In June 2014, the TV celebrity released a mobile game for iPhone and Android called Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. The game was a hit and earned $1.6 million in its first five days. In December 2015, Kim released Kimoji, an emoji app for iOS devices, which became a bestseller and made the list of most popular apps in the world.

Kim's popularity grew at an unprecedented rate, and by November 2016 she was being paid between $75,000 and $300,000 for every post she published on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. In June 2017, she launched her own cosmetics line, KKW Beauty, and in November 2017, she launched her own fragrance line, KKW Fragrance.

In September 2019, Kim released her SKIMS collection of corrective lingerie. It sold out in minutes.

After her marriage to Kanye West, Kim began to change her style. Now her closet is full of pastel outfits, jackets, long dresses and tracksuits. She is also a major sneaker insider in the fashion world. She likes to tease fans with the first pics of the new Yeezy she wears all the time. Of course, revealing outfits haven't gone anywhere, but that's the whole point of Kim Kardashian - she loves her body and shows it off at every opportunity.

Even Anna Wintour herself noticed Kim's fashion evolution. If in 2013 Kim went to the Met Gala - the Costume Institute ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the most anticipated fashion industry event as Kanye West's +1, by the following year she not only received a personal invitation, but she also starred on the cover of Vogue. Every year her Met Gala outfits got better and better. All 6 years of Kim's appearances at the Met Gala led up to her most iconic appearance, the Mugler "wet" dress. We have to admit, she looked amazing and, unlike in 2013, this time she wasn't a +1 companion to Kanye, but a separate guest style icon. By the way, Kanye looked more like her bodyguard that night than her husband.

All of these events helped Kim become a style icon, a successful entrepreneur, a loving wife and mother, and even started her own law firm. She has gone from socialite to businesswoman, emulated by millions of fans around the world.
