Crank up the KT Tunstall music, make yourself a grilled Jarlsberg and maybe even wear a piece of Cerulean, because today is Anne Hathaway's birthday, and Vogue is taking the occasion to revisit some of her best looks from "The Devil Wears Prada." (She may have won an Oscar for her performance in "Les Mis," but she'll always be Andy Sachs to us). Below, members of the Vogue team pick their favorite outfits from the 2006 blockbuster.
"A fashion editor who loves 'The Devil Wears Prada'? Groundbreaking. From the opening credits with KT Tunstall to the finale where you throw the phone down the well, I love every second of the movie, and I don't care who knows it. But when it comes to the outfits, I have to admit that the situation is a little more confusing. If I had to choose my favorite outfit, I'd go for the mini dress, tights, knee-high boots and Chanel necklace she's wearing in the iconic outfit montage - a look I'd love to recreate in its entirety this winter. Copy that... The outfit from "The Devil Wears Prada"? Yes, yes, I do." Joy Montgomery, trade editor
The "everyone wants to be like us" dress
"This is my favorite, mostly because it reminds me of Andy's Y2K ringtone - a ringtone I used to have and decided to change when I started working at Vogue." Lydia Bowden, video editor and post-production coordinator
A guy in a red T-shirt
"Like so many great works of art, Nate's styling is unsettling. Here is a man who just doesn't 'get' fashion. A man who is willing to work unsociable hours as a sous chef, but who sulks the moment his girlfriend is forced to take a late shift. Her star is rising, and this casts a long shadow over his own success. She's Andy Sachs in those Chanel boots. He's Some Guy in a red T-shirt". Daniel Rodgers, digital fashion writer
The "I'm not your baby" corset
"An often overlooked costume in 'The Devil Wears Prada' is the one Andy wears as she leaves Christian's hotel room in Paris. Her line 'I'm not your baby', said in a bustier and leather pencil skirt, is the moment she finally grows up and takes back control of her life." Lauren O'Callaghan, Editorial Director
Are these the Chanel boots?
"'Are you wearing the AW23 Miu Miu reading glasses?' Emily Blunt should have asked Gisele this question rather than quizzing Anne Hathaway about her Chanel boots, fresh from the fashion closet. Supermodel Gisele - also known as runway fashion girl and optics aficionado Serena - wears rectangular glasses similar to the styles Bella Hadid and other cool girls have been wearing on Instagram lately. The glasses look more like Andy wore them before his makeover, and that's exactly what's trending these days, when off-duty models look more like they'd rather code at home than walk the runway. Isn't Andy's azure sweater and knee-length argyle skirt pretty Prada too?" - Laura Hawkins, Associate Director of European Fashion Routes
The "I-just-threw-this-on-me" blazer
"'Who put this together for you?" asks Nigel Andy when he sees her in this pencil skirt and sculpted black blazer in Paris. When he hears that she just 'threw it on herself', he declares that his job as her unofficial stylist is done. I couldn't agree more." Emma Spedding, deputy managing editor for fashion news and features
Andy's trademark - the bakerboy hat
"The Devil Wears Prada shaped my teenage years; I actually tried to recreate Andy's outfits with pieces from Topshop. The white coat and bakerboy hat combo is my personal favorite and reminds me that all I want for Christmas is a pair of classic black T-bar heels." Alyson Lowe, Associate Director of Audience Development
