Anya Kisel: On Body Positivity, Balancing Motherhood & the Art of Modeling with Metro Models
In this in-depth interview, model Anya Kisel — represented by one of the leading model agencies in Europe — opens up about her personal relationship with her body, life beyond the runway, and how her journey in modeling has shaped her perspective.

Metro Models (MM): Anya, thank you for joining us. First, how would you describe your identity as a model today?

Anya: My name is Ania Kisiel, and I’m a model — but I’m also a full-time mother of two beautiful children. Motherhood has changed my perspective on strength and patience more than any high-fashion job ever did. Before having kids, I thought I had endurance. Now, I realize patience is something I’m always striving for.

MM: That’s a heartfelt start. When people think of models, they often imagine glamour — but surely there’s more behind the scenes?

Anya: Absolutely. The public often sees just the final image — the outfits, the lighting, the end result. But modeling is so much more about authenticity, vulnerability, and storytelling. Working with supportive teams — photographers, stylists, makeup artists — transforms a concept into something expressive and truly human. That’s the beauty of this industry and why great model agencies make such a difference: they champion not just beauty but depth and individuality.

MM: We loved your metaphor comparing your body to nature. Can you expand on that?

Anya: If I had to describe my body, I’d compare it to a sunny forest just after it has rained. There’s resilience, softness, life, and a sort of quiet strength that doesn’t need perfection. It’s how I feel now — grounded yet growing, just like the environment.

MM: That’s a powerful image. Do you feel that way has shifted over time?

Anya: Definitely. My body has gone through so many changes — from modeling before children, to carrying life, to balancing motherhood now. I see it as more “real” and resilient. In ten years, I hope to see that same core strength — maybe a little more time for yoga and self-care — but essentially the same feeling of grounded confidence.

MM: As someone working with top model agencies, how have those professional relationships influenced your modeling journey?

Anya: Being associated with reputable model agencies has given me opportunities I couldn’t have imagined early on. It’s not just about the jobs booked, but about the support networks, community, and the creative environments they cultivate. When an agency values its models as people first, it makes all the difference in how we approach our work.

MM: Last question — what advice would you give to those entering the world of models and modeling?

Anya: Embrace your individuality. This industry is evolving — there’s room for all kinds of narratives beyond traditional beauty standards. Find an agency that respects you, nurture your own voice, and remember that confidence and authenticity always translate through the lens.
