Ilse de Boer of Metro Models recently graced the pages of the January 2015 issue of Marie Claire UK. Her photos were taken by Michael Sanders, and those images featured in an editorial entitled, “Sea Change.” For that shoot, Ilse was styled by Tiffany Fraser Steele, and her hair was done by Nicholas James.
The editorial served to inform Marie Claire’s readers of one current trend in resort wear, namely a move toward fabrics that are more organic and natural, and transitioning toward shapes that give off a sense of relaxing outdoors. Ilse’s photos were set against beautiful backdrops of sand, sea and shore, with one image featuring a fairly nonchalant camel. These images served to further emphasize the relatively androgynous and stunning beauty of this blue-eyed, dark blonde Dutch model, represented by a the model agency in Zurich.

The cover photo for this editorial features Ilse standing in front of a large camel, as waves make their way to shore in the background. She is wearing a round-necked, long-sleeved off-white wool dress from Celine that reaches all the way to her bare wet feet. The dress is of an interesting, relaxed shape, such that it follows the contours of Ilse’s body, particularly at the waist, hips, and legs, and yet the dress also feels loose in other areas. This makes the dress look more comfortable and airy. The dress is paired with earrings also from Celine, composed of crystal and plastic materials.
Another photo of Ilse shows her wearing a more intricate ensemble, this time from Louis Vuitton. She has on a top made of jersey and silk lace, with lovely blue flower-like lace patterns and white fabric showing underneath. There is a zipper that runs down the front of this top, with an eye-catching metallic pull. This is paired with a dark knee-length skirt composed of suede material. The skirt has two rows of dark brown metallic and fairly large buttons going down the front, for interest. Ilse is also wearing a leather belt with a similarly metallic rectangular buckle in the middle.
These images feature Ilse in contrasting outfits. One is monochromatic while the other features intricate blue patterns. One image features a long flowing dress while the other has a shorter skirt and long-sleeved top. But the common thread that runs through these two photos is the sense of wearing something comfortable and organic while away on vacation at the beach.
The style of make-up used in both images is fairly minimal. This allows Ilse’s natural skin tone and her facial features to stand out even further, both of which have served her well in her work with her model agency in Switzerland and elsewhere. The two photos have her looking directly at the camera, and it is clear that her eyes and face truly have the ability to capture and hold a viewer’s attention. Her beauty possesses a kind of intensity, and as she stares into the camera, it becomes very difficult for a reader to look away.
