Almost naked. Or why do we love lace so much?
It evokes nudity without completely revealing anything. It is seductive and delicate. You can wear it on the shores of Amalfi or on the streets of the city. This season's lace trend is more playful and versatile than anything else.

Whether in the form of trims, sheer panels, or from head to toe, lace always evokes delicate femininity and romantic nostalgia. It has a place of honor this season, which is permeated by a theme of returning to gentle strength demonstrated by shades of pink, polka dots, organza, ruffles, and the return of a relaxed boho aesthetic. Lace-trimmed vintage pieces have always been part of wardrobe treasures, but now this material is becoming a key element of contemporary collections—with a fresh "veil." It's as if the foundations of a bygone era are transcending the bedroom and entering our everyday lives. As a hint of a decadent, sensual mood and even ethereal pleasure.
Lace is sometimes called the "ornament of the soul" because of the original craftsmanship, intimacy, femininity, and exclusivity it evokes. In the Victorian era, it became a key part of lingerie, a symbol of purity and eroticism. In the boudoir sense, it represents a veil of mystery. Transparent layers, ruffles, and hints are simply a powerful aesthetic language. Lace can be worn as a femme fatale, with melancholy, passion, seductively, boldly, and with nobility.

And besides, it is extremely poetic – you can literally weave a lot of symbolism and stories into it. To give you a little insight: floral patterns represent femininity, the cycle of life and eroticism; heart, star and cross motifs represent religious and personal stories. Spider webs and nets can represent traps, enticement or fate. Some lace patterns, passed down through generations, carry very personal symbols for brides. Although the current trend is probably not so much about these unique and delicate details, lace, at a time when concepts such as craftsmanship and slow living are resonating, perhaps reminds us of a slower way of life. After all, the creation of lace is associated with a quiet and slow act.

In contemporary collections, it is traditionally used by brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, which has made lace a source of national pride. It often draws on Sicilian traditions (Catholic mourning, passion, motherhood, eroticism). Of course, Chloé's creative director Chemena Kamali has also contributed to the great lace revival, reviving the sensual and poetic aesthetics of bygone times and further developing her romantic vision. You can reliably find it in Alexander McQueen's work or in the diverse details of Alessandro Michele's designs, but also in the latest sun-drenched and arty vibe of Loewe's annual limited edition, Paul's Ibiza. However, you can also find lace in the upcoming fall collections, making it a transitional trend.

The key to wearing these delicate, sheer materials is styling. This also opens up possibilities for those who prefer edgy romance with a touch of irony or its darker, rougher side. If you want to inject some new energy into your styling, combine the unexpected. Take grunge, for example. Try a long lace skirt with an oversized T-shirt, a lace dress over pants with sneakers, etc. A skirt with a lace panel will work in the summer with just a swimsuit top and in the fall with a chunky sweater. You can throw a sportier jacket or sweatshirt over a dress. But you can also go for the Edwardian era in the name of the seventies or the baby doll look. Pants, tank tops, ultra-romantic blouses, floor-length dresses, or just lace details are everywhere this season. And there are many simple ways to layer a little lace to suit your style.
